Infrastructure projects underway at Fleming College
August 18, 2009Work is underway on several provincially-funded infrastructure projects at Fleming College.
With more than $11 million in funding from the Strategic Capital Infrastructure Fund, announced by Peterborough MPP Jeff Leal in May 2009, Fleming College will undertake a number of significant capital projects over the next 18 months including:
• Main hydro feed replacement at Sutherland Campus - $1.2 million
• Road work and storm-water management at Sutherland and Frost campuses - $700,000
• A new pathology laboratory at Frost Campus - $1.5 million
• Energy reduction initiatives at all campuses - $2 million
• Campus Master Plan initiatives at Sutherland Campus, including architectural work on the proposed Kawartha Skilled Trades Institute - $3 million
• Deferred maintenance projects at all campuses - $2 million
While some projects will be finished this summer - including road work and Phase II of a new emergency notification system - others are scheduled for completion through to 2010-11.
“This fund is strategic in both the short-term and the long-term. We are grateful for the opportunity to address immediate needs with investments that will have lasting impact,” said Fleming College President Tony Tilly.
